example 1:When Rip Van Winkle is walking up in the the mountains with his dog he hears his name being called and doesn't know who it is because he couldn't think of what kind of person will be walking their when the sun is about to go down. When he sees these weird looking fellows that I assume their elf's, where drinking some kind of liquor that Van Winkle wanted to try. When the elf's gave him some to try Van Winkle slowly lay in the ground and fell in to a deep sleep. This is an example of Romanticism because their is no thing like magic potions or liquor, for then I have to open my imagination to be able to understand what is going on in the story.
example 2: Another example is when Rip Van Winkle is describing the Kaatskill mountains;Every change of season, every change of weather, indeed every hour of the day, produces some change in the magical hues and shapes of these mountains, and they are regarded by all the good wives, far and near, as perfect
barometers. When the weather is fair and settled, they are clothed in blue
and purple, and print their bold outlines on the clear evening sky; but
sometimes, when the rest of the landscape is cloudless, they will gather a
hood of gray vapors about their summits, which, in the last rays of the
setting sun, will glow and light up like a crown of glory. this is an example of romanticism because he is describing nature. For many people had never seen places like the ones they describe. because their nature was durty and nothing compare to what Rip Van Winkle is describing.
